Jay A. Koller, 24, of Roaring Brook Township, entered eternal rest on August 17, leaving behind a loving family, devoted friends, coworkers, and countless people whose lives were touched by his warmth and kindness.
Born on June 24, 2002, in Taylor, Jay was the beloved son of Tara Davies and Jay P. Koller. He was a 2020 graduate of Riverside Jr. Sr. High School and continued his education at Keystone College, where he was part of the Class of 2024. Jay later attended Lackawanna College as he pursued his dream of becoming a registered nurse.
Alongside his studies and career goals, Jay worked at Glenmaura Senior Living facility. His family remembered how naturally he connected with the residents and coworkers there. His caring personality made a lasting impression, and the relationships he formed through his work reflected the compassion he carried into every part of his life.
Jay was described by those closest to him as a loving, caring, genuine, charming, and kindhearted soul. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and valued, and his quick wit and personality brought joy to those around him. His family said he made an impact on everyone he met, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Outside of school and work, Jay enjoyed many activities and hobbies. He loved sports, gaming, fishing, sketching, music, and playing guitar. Music was especially meaningful to him, and some of his happiest moments were spent playing guitar alongside his best friend and brother, Jeffrey.
One of the greatest loves in Jay’s life was his dog, Phoebe, whom his family described as the love of his life. His affection for animals was another reflection of his gentle and compassionate nature, making the family’s decision to request memorial donations to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter especially meaningful.
Jay is survived by his mother, Tara Davies and her fiancé, Ryan; his father, Jay P. Koller, and wife and stepmother, Tracy; sister, Tiera Notari; brother, Jeffrey Koller; grandmother, Roberta Koller; niece, Braelyn Macierowski; stepsister, Skylar Pickett; stepfather, Kevin Froese; stepsisters, Victoria and Alexandria Froese; grandmother, Theresa Kulesa and her husband, Kevin; uncles William Davies and wife Wendy and Dave Koller and wife Victoria; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends.
Among those mourning his loss are his best friends, Wills Jackson and Chris Grzenda, who shared a special friendship with Jay and will carry his memory forward.
Jay was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Davies, Sr., and his uncle, Joseph Koller.
Family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew Jay are invited to gather and celebrate his life. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor, Pennsylvania. Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Jay’s memory.
Though his life was far too short, Jay Koller leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, compassion, friendship, and kindness. His family and friends will forever remember his smile, humor, generous spirit, and the genuine way he cared for others. His memory will live on through the people he loved, the lives he touched, and the countless moments that made him so special.
